Macrium Reflect can include the components necessary to connect Windows PE to iSCSI. This restoration to and from iSCSI connected disks.

  1. Ensure that your Windows PE rescue media has be created with the 'Include optional components' option selected.
  2. Boot into Windows PE and start a command prompt.


    The command line can be accessed by clicking the black icon on the bottom left corner of your screen.

  3. You will need to change the IP address of your Windows Preinstallation Environment to the same IP address that is configured on your Windows Host in order to be authenticated by the iSCSI target since unknown IP addresses will result in a timeout when trying to login to the target.

    Take 'Other Tasks' > 'Network Config' 

  4. In Network Configuration input the same IP address that is configured on the Host 
  5. In the command window type  “net start msiscsi” to enable the Microsoft iSCSI server:

  6. After the service has started connect to the iSCSI target to Windows PE by using the command below:

    iscsicli QAddTargetPortal 10.17.0.32
  7. Next step is to list the connected target in order to find out its Internet Qualified Name that is used to logon to the iSCSI target. It is done by entering “iscsicli ListTargets T”
