In v8.1 and later, when a trial installation expires, you are presented with the following options when starting Macrium Reflect:

  • Extend the trial for 7 more days (this is only available once)
  • Purchase a license - Takes you to the Macrium web site order page
  • Enter a purchased license key - Displays a dialog to enter a purchased key. 
  • Restore an existing backup - Starts Macrium Reflect in 'Restore only mode', see below.
  • Uninstall - Remove Macrium Reflect from your PC. 


Restore an existing backup

If 'Restore an existing backup' is selected then Reflect will start up but all functionality to create a new backup or add to an existing backup is disabled. This includes Images, File and Folder, SQL backups, Exchange backups and Clones. Additionally, viBoot will not run in Restore Only mode. However, you can still use Reflect to restore any pre-existing backups you may have.

Similarly, backups cannot be created from the Reflect command line and scripts and backup definition files can neither be run nor scheduled:
