You may encounter an issue with scheduled file and folder backups where an included folder is located on a network share. This article explains the possible cause and provides a workaround. It may be possible to navigate to the network share in Windows Explorer, but when the backup is run, an error similar to the following is displayed:

Solution

This issue may be due to scheduled backup running as the SYSTEM account, which does not have access to network locations. To resolve this error, change the scheduler settings to run as an Administrator user by doing the following:

  1. Open the Reflect Defaults and Settings by selecting the Defaults icon.

  2. Select Schedule Settings.

  3. Uncheck Use the Windows SYSTEM account to run scheduled tasks and enter an Administrator user that has access to the network folder you are attempting to backup.

Your scheduled tasks will now run as the user you have specified.
